This is our trip

We had a great time in DC. We left Anniston around 4:30 on Saturday afternoon and arrived in DC at 9:30 Sunday morning. The train ride was fun. We can now check that off of our list. We arrived at Union Station and discovered that it was right across the street from where Laura works. That was great for us..

Laura met us and took us back to her apartment. She has a very nice place. It is newly remodeled and in a good location. When she emailed me I was worried. She said it was on the verge of the good and bad. It was fine. Aunt Donna can rest knowing that Laura is ok.

Laura had everything lined up for us.

Sunday afternoon we went to the Pentagon. Her roomates boyfriend works for the Secretary of Defense and gave us a private afternoon tour. WOW.. is all I can say... The building is so large that we rode the halls in a gold cart. {Robin Williams was on the same tour last week}

We were able to see where the plane came into the building and the memorial they had erected for the hundreds that lost their lives. This was my favorite part of the entire trip.....

Monday was our day to just chill out and establish our ways of getting around. We walked about 6 miles on this day.. We visited the Bureau of Printing and Engraving {i.e. how our money is made} that was pretty cool. We then stood in line for tickets to the Holocaust museum. Now if you are a history nut like myself... That was intense. You just have to visit for yourself. No photography allowed so no picutres inside most of the tour stops.

Tuesday was our "pack it all in day" Laura had arranged a VIP tour to last the entire day. We left at 9:00 and went straight to Arlington. We stopped at JK's gravesite and then to see the 10:00 changing of the guards. That was super...

The next stop was the Washington Monument. Chicken butt here did not go up but Kayla and Jessica did. Oh yea there were about 100 people in line and the van pulled us up on the grass and off to the front of the line. {way to go Laura, when you say VIp you mean it}

We left there and went to the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial and the Korean Memorial. This was the shortest stop and the most to see. We literally ran to all three so we could return for lunch...

After lunch in the Reagan Center, we turned the corner of the street to head down to the Jefferson Memorial and ran into the Presidential Motorcade. that was neat to know we go tto see a sitting president. Or I thought it was.

Time for bed.... Will finish this post later.

Some more

This is special to us.. Papa Kennamer served in Korea.

The changing of the guard at Arlington.. Very emotional...

So true!!! Just ask a veteran....

She is so crazy...

Need I say more??????

Trip

Ok I am a day late this week, forgive me. Madison has been sick again. She had the stomach virus on Sunday. I am so tired of this. Everytime we turn around she is sick. Please say a prayer for her. We are scheduled to have her tonsils removed on April 3rd. She is ok with it. She knows they need to come out. After 3 cases of strep in four weeks we are ready..
As you read in the title we are off on a trip. Kayla, Jessica, and I will be heading to DC on Saturday to see Laura. We are getting nervous but excited all at the same time. Laura emailed us today to make sure the details were working out. She has some cool things planned. Since she is on the inside we can do things the general public cannot.
We are planning to take the Amtrak up!!! What are we thinking. We just thought we had flown, sailed and it was time to take the train. We will see how it goes and maybe the entire family can go up this summer. Please pray for a safe journey for us... Mom {me} is a little nervous about the entire thing. I know we will have fun.. It looks like rain for two of the four days :(
Updates on all of us...
Kayla is in love... She and Tysce are still an item. He was going to take the trip but cannot due to the small room we will be staying in. She is still making good grades and is looking for something she would like to do when she grows up:0
Madison is going to start softball tomorrow. She is excited. She is also loving her school and making good grades. She is so very attentive to mommy's needs. She knows exactly when mom needs a hus or kiss. She is my little "mommy"
Bryant is growing.... We decided to go hiking with Donna, Darrel, Jessica, Ben and Eslie on Saturday and guess what?? He made the entire hike. Step for step with us. I never would have guessed he could do it. He enjoyed playing in the creeks as we crossed them. We even took our shoes off and stuck our feet in.
I will try to load the pics from our fun day....

Oh well.

Good Sunday Morning

God is so good!! He blesses in ways we do not even dream of. As I am sitting here waiting for the family to get up and moving I am watching the most beautiful thing God made,,,,, SNOW!! Is it simply beautiful. We do not get to see much of it here so the times we do get to see it is most enjoyable. Now if I were having to get out and try to drive and get around I might not think this was so pretty. I know it shuts people down and causes havock. I understand that but itis so much fun to enjoy!
I hope each and every one of you that enjoy our blog take a few moments to tell God everything you are thankful for.
